I didn't sleep well on Saturday night only a few hours sleep. I woke up reasonably late on Sunday morning, around 9:00 AM. I went online and booked for the free walking tour of Munich, but shortly after realised that there was no way I was in the mood for walking around the city. My stomach was churning. It was free so it didn't cost me anything if I didn't turn up.
The free tour is not technically free. It is based on tips. After the tour, you tip the guide whatever you think the tour was worth. While it is possible that you don't tip, it's kind of rude of you not too. It's a good idea for a few reasons, firstly because it encourages more people who may not be able to afford a set price to still be able to participate and the tour guides make some money 'outside of the books'
I went downstairs for breakfast. After eating I came back up to the room and my mum called me on skype but the Internet at the hostel is complete shit and drops out all the time. If you try to reconnect, it takes forever. I can't even connect my phone properly. It was very fucking frustrating.
I wrote the beer tour story. It took a few hours and once that was finished I decided that I needed to start planning the trip beyond Germany. I thought about going from Hamburg to Paris on the train, it would be cheaper than flying. It would, however, be a 10 hour train trip and I struggle enough on the 5 hour trips. I looked up flights and found one with Air France. It took 1 and a half hours. Perfect. I booked the ticket, it cost me 230.00 Euro. Expensive but better than a 10 hour train ride.
I went down for dinner at 6:00 PM. They served Chicken Cordon Bleu. It was decent enough. The chocolate mousse for dessert was pretty fantastic though. After eating I came back upstairs to continue booking.
I also booked a hotel in Paris for 3 nights. It cost about $250.00 AUD. I used the Australian Expedia page to avoid any conversion fees. I also investigated my options from Paris to Amsterdam. It seems I can get a train ticket for around 40 Euro and the trip only takes about 3 and a half hours. Sounds good to me. I will book the ticket when I arrive in France.
I also booked 3 nights in a Best Western in Amsterdam. That cost me $330.00 AUD. I tried to book a cheaper place but everything was selling out by the time I got through the booking system. It will be a weekend when I am there, so I guess it is always harder to find accommodation. I also looked up flights from Amsterdam to Liverpool. It will cost around 130.00 Euro. I could fly to Manchester for less than that but it may be easier for my cousin to meet me at John Lennon Airport in Liverpool. I will fly to England on 10th March, to fit in with her plans, as I had discussed with her.
I will message her on Facebook and confirm before I book the flights. By that time it was about 10:00 PM and I was fairly tired so I went to bed. I had rebooked the walking tour of Munich for the next morning. It should be good.
